Journalism and Community Manager 8/1/17 – Present
SUJO is a social media app that features a “customizable balance of facts, opinion, and conversation.” I helped guide them through the creation of their alpha, advising the CEO and programmers on the ethics of journalism and “fake news.” I tested the app throughout its alpha and beta and now perform a variety of roles:
- Politics journalist. I post a handful of well-rounded news summaries every day.
- Community manager. I assist in the recruitment and management of writers for the app. I also interact with users through weekly newsletters.
- Advisor. I continue to advise the company as they grow the app.
CBS Radio Chicago
Web Content Producer 5/1/2011 – 5/1/2017
I fulfilled multiple roles at CBS:
- Web producer, CBS Chicago. Edited articles for the “Best of” section. Wrote original news stories about local crime, politics, food, and music.
- Social media lead. Helped producers manage and grow social media accounts for local CBS properties.
- Web producer, CBS Radio. Wrote music articles. Helped hire and manage web content producers.
I was hired to manage freelancers and write articles for the lifestyle sections of the site. After two years, my focus shifted to data-driven pieces for the news section. When I left, I was integral in sharing content between our news and music sites.
